Barcelona becomes the world epicenter of Stand Up Paddle with the BCN Sup World Fest

For three unforgettable days, from May 17 to 19, the city of Barcelona was the scene of the largest international Stand Up Paddle (SUP) competition, the BCN Sup World Fest, organized by the Catalan Sailing Federation with the support of the Generalitat of Catalonia and the UFEC. Somorrostro Beach became a meeting point for more than 250 elite athletes from 26 different nationalities, who offered an impressive show in front of thousands of passionate fans who gathered to enjoy the event.

The BCN Sup World Fest not only brought together the best athletes in the world in this discipline, but also consolidated Barcelona as a global benchmark in Stand Up Paddle. Competitors demonstrated an exceptional level of skill and endurance, making each race a vibrant, excitement-filled spectacle.

Notable triumphs

Among the many talents that shone at the event, two names stood out above the rest. In the female Elit category, Esperanza Barreras, Spanish 2024 champion and four-time World champion, demonstrated once again why she is one of the most important figures in SUP at an international level. Her victory reaffirms her position as an unbeatable competitor and an inspiration to many in the sport. Mari Carmen Rivera and Alba Frey joined her on the podium in second and third place, respectively.

On the other hand, in the men’s Elit category, Shuri Araki of Japan emerged victorious, impressing everyone with her impeccable technique and unwavering determination. Araki, known for his skill and unique style, added another title to his impressive sporting career. Aaron Sánchez was second, while Australian Michael Booth occupies third place on the podium.

The BCN Sup World Fest was not only a sporting event, but also a celebration of Stand Up Paddle culture.
